Our general recommendation is to lay your mulch 5-10cm thick. This will allow for decent coverage and weed suppression whilst also allowing water and air to move through to the soil.
Weed mat is an optional addition to suppressing weeds in a garden area. A thick layer of the Forest Fines mulch will do a good job at keeping weeds at bay, weed mat will provide an extra layer of control.
Yes. Most natural mulches will break down over time. As the mulch breaks down it will enrich the soil in your garden bed. It is best to replenish your garden mulch every 6 – 12 months to keep good coverage of your soil.
