What do you put under pavers? 

The base underneath your pavers is equally important as your actual landscaping pavers. Without a strong, level and true foundation, your pavers won’t stand the test of time. For long term durability, make sure your paving project is on a solid base of at least 100mm of a compacted layer like Road Base and 15-20mm of Bedding Sand. 

How do I choose the right paver for my project? 

It depends on where and how the pavers will be used. For example, driveways require more heavy-duty pavers, while courtyards, pathways and patios offer more flexibility in design, shape and finish. Our team can guide you through your options and help you choose the right products to suit your space and complement your landscaping plans. 

Are all pavers slip-resistant? 

Not all pavers are created equal when it comes to grip. Areas exposed to water, like pool sides, shaded paths, or outdoor steps, are naturally more slippery, so it’s important to choose a textured paver with a high non-slip rating. We stock a range of options specifically designed for these spaces. 

Do pavers fade or weather over time? 

Like any outdoor material, pavers can weather with exposure to sun and rain. However, many modern pavers are made with durable pigments to minimise fading. Using a quality sealant can also help maintain the colour and protect the surface from stains and erosion.

When you are laying pavers you will first need to prepare the ground underneath them with a compacted layer.

A solid base of compacted crusher dust or road base is perfect for this purpose as it still allows water to drain through and creates a stable foundation that prevents your pavers from shifting around. Ask our team about our compacting material options at Cobble Patch.

Being created from diamond sawn rock, these naturally shaped pavers are not only aesthetically stunning, but made from a strong and weather-resistant stone.

There are many different types of pavers that make perfect stepping stones, the main things to consider when choosing a stone material is its texture (for grip), durability and weather resistance, and aesthetics. For many people, a natural stone offers the best finish, as they are sturdy and visually appealing – however if you are looking for a uniform finish you might prefer a concrete paver.
