Yes. Softfall mulch will allow water to move through its surface which will reduce puddling and will provide a more usable play area after rain.
The higher the play equipment the deeper the layer of softfall should be. As a general rule of thumb, softfall should me installed around 200mm-300mm thick to give adequate impact protection.
